Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program (BCAP) is the three-part series of year-round education programs and initiatives for youth ages 7-12 years old offered by Heart of Brooklyn. BCAP takes advantage of the incredible resources of the Heart of Brooklyn member institutions by offering hands-on experiences for youth: projects, games, and educator-led tours that weave connections between art, world culture, literature, history, nature and science.
Educators at each institution coordinate curricula across the institutions, giving youth an integrated experience in accordance with NY State Learning Standards.
Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program (BCAP) Summer Camp, is a day camp that began in 1998. BCAP Summer Camp introduces youth ages 7 - 12 to the resources in their own communities through fun-filled visits to HOB member institutions. Generous tuition assistance ensures that youth from all economic circumstances are able to attend BCAP Summer Camp, creating a program that reflects the diversity of the borough.
Building on 12 years of award winning educational programming, Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program Express helps summer camps and school groups navigate Brooklyn’s Cultural treasures.
BCAP After-School is a pilot initiative partnering Groundwork, Inc., and NYCHA with the Heart of Brooklyn cultural institutions to engage youth and families at the Breukelen Houses, a NYCHA residence, in the cultural and artistic programs of the Heart of Brooklyn members. BCAP After-School provides a school year-long, culturally rich curriculum for out-of-school time that includes regular on-site visits to the member institutions.
